- We are a River town with access to the Water (that attracts visitors)
- We are in a Revival (albeit it has been a slow start up to a year ago...)
- We are more of a Destination than of a Starting Point for Travelors
- Port's charm makes it easy to call it home
- The Town was designed with the pedestian in mind -- can it support increased the traffic?
There is a big discussion that is continuous in our Village.
It will only increase in the upcoming election
- Do we want to promote business or promote Residential?
- Can the two co-exist?
- Do we really have a parking problem? or as some say a Parking Attitude.
The forum is open for all side to give opinons

Parking comment
It bugs the heck out of me when someone outside of Port Deposit, thinks we have parking problem, because they read it in the newspapers by one of our intelligent councilmen.
Has anyone had a problem parking?
I know of no one who has.
I wish that some of those elected official would stop pushing a agenda and promote Port Deposit.
Perhaps if people really truly need to walk only 10 feet to their front door from their parking spot, they should purchase a home in a new housing development with an attached garage. The charm of an historic property is the fact that they were built for another period, another time, and if one has to trade walking some extra steps in order to enjoy the Susquehanna view, incredible architecture and sense of place in Port Deposit, I think it is but a small sacrifice.
+1
they (Town Hall) need one voice on public relations!
a spokeperson (with a can do attitude)
Pro-town and pro-progress
so sorry but no one currently there can handle it.
and dare I mention?
to many secrets meetings and cliques and hidden agendas.
one where you can turn on the water and the following bill is not = to a mortgage payment.
I want a town,
I want a town like that of years ago. Where most in the town grew up in the town. Where the churches were vibrant and our organizations were full of friends and neighbors.
I want a town where the citizens look out for one another.
A town where older buildings are restored , businesses returned and grass doesn't grow on the sidewalks.
I want a town also that allows expression at town meeting not by time clock but by the content of the message.
A town that cares about its heritage, its elderly an its children.
I want a town that is balanced with church and light-hearted fun
I want a town like Port.
i want a town free of drugdealers,hippacrits,murderers,drunks,etc.etc.etc.....
I want a town that forgives itself for its own shortcomings
This is Mayberry but it seems we are having a bad day
Mayberry on acid
Don't you mean Mayberry on Heroin?
As to the Mayberry on herion comment,
It is everywhere no just in this town .
But in our our village being so small you can see those who have the problem, they are mostly renters not property owners. The dealers are mostly a family of thugs. They are obvious too.
Exactly my point. We can see the deals, we allow the establishments that those deals take place to remain open, we know who is buying, we know who is selling and somehow because it is in every little town it it OK because it is the "norm". Our town is so cute and historic and blah, blah, blah but don't look too close. You might get a seed in your eye...as in seedy little town. This website is full of references to Otis of Mayberry I believe. The other Otis is Otis Redding...."Looks like, nothings gonna change, everything still remains the same."
Marlena on the Wall
someone posted a request for a posd to report drug dealers -- and users.
Do not know how you can do that without being slanderous.
(innocent until rpoven guilty is important to me!)
But the time has come to weed out those - so there are no seeds in your eye.
-- found that Suzanne Vega sang or had an album "Marlena on the Wall"
-- what is the greater meaning of your handle?
You've got it...though it is not about me. It is about what is and is not acceptable to the safety and livelyhood of all of us. I do not believe in vigilantism but feel strongly that the upcoming administration must have public safety at the top of the list. I don't think a blog is the proper place to talk about what you think you know. Call Joe at Town Hall.

I wish port deposit was in the manor it was in the early 1900's, a beloved by all town. Respected wide. I dont want to see it become business minded such a perryville. Keep it a town where you want, can, and should walk everywhere!!! Stop being lazy. Port Deposit is one of the most relaxing places i can go. I love our town, please keep it this way, focus on the residents and "surrounding" residents such as myself(no not far,rockrun-ish...)
