Congratulations to the New Mayor and Council

Congratulations,
to those who selflessly stepped up to the plate and are on the town's team.

Feel free to express opinions and comments (hopefully positive)
on any side of issues to those who can shape our town in the next several years.

IT'S PRETTY SAD WHEN YOU GET 20%OF THE VOTERS TO VOTE FOR THE TOWN.EVERYBODY WANTS TO COMPLAIN BUT HAVE NO MERIT TO STAND ON,BASICALLY BECAUSE ALL THEY (NON VOTERS) ARE ARE WHINERS AND COMPLAINERS WITH NO GUTS TO STAND UP FOR THE TOWN.SO I SAY SHUT UP CRYERS AND WHINERS AND GO ON WITH YOUR PATHETIC LIVES AND KEEP BEING THE SCUM OF THE TOWN CONGRADULATIONS TO THE NEW MAYOR AND COUNCIL GOOD LUCK.

DEAR PRETTY SAD,
THAT IS CONGRA-T-ULATIONS
OR IS THIS FROM YOUR PATHETIC SCUM SCHOOLING -WHOM WAS YOUR TEACHER?

FACT REMAINS
QUALITY OF LIFE IN THIS TOWN IS AFFECTED BY LACK OF ENFORCEMENT OF OUR CURRENT ORDINANCES
ENFORCEMENT IS WHO’S JOB

AND IF WHO’S IS NOT DOING THEIR JOB
THEN IT IS THE COUNCILS JOB TO DO SOMETHING – BESIDE PLAYING KISSY AND WALKING THE PARK

YOU WOULDN'T KEEP A D STUDENT LAWYWER ON YOUR TEAM WOULD YOU?

20% OF THE VOTE
PREY-TELL
LETS SEE NO ONE CAMPAIGNED ... HMMM
UH NO ADVERTISEMENT OR EITHER WEBSITE OF THE ELECTION DATE ?
I WONDER WHY?

PUTTING THE UPCOMING ELECTION ONLY IN THE CECIL WHIG IS LIKE CHANGING THE ZONING IN TOWN AND NOT ADVERTISING IT OTHER PLACES FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT BUY THE WHIG -- LIKE THE TRASH BILL? THE WEBSITE?
A SIGN IN TOWN DAYS APPRIZING PEOPLE

–THIS TOWN IS DIFFERENT THEY WOULD NOT FORGET TO DO THESE SIMPLE THING TO KEEP EVERYONE ENFRANCHISED.

I VOTED FOR KERRY (ONLY) SHE AT LEAST SENT OUT A FLIER AND UNDERSTOOD THAT WHEN RUNNING FOR OFFICE HAVING GOALS ARE IMPORTANT.

I CONGRA-T-ULATE KERRY!

SINCERELY,
YOUR LIFE LONG SCUM COMPLAINER WHINER GUTLESS CRYING PATHETIC CITIZEN ... BLOGGER
WHO CAN AT LEAST SPELL

+1 for the
LONG SCUM COMPLAINER WHINER

But what does the kissy part mean?

It would be nice to see this (new/old)group set an agenda of goal they want to achieve in the next 2-4 years
maybe advertise this in the whig too so no one see's it

How much ARE they paying for their Official Town website?
Seems it they do not use it, then it should go away and save some taxpayer money?

or maybe spend more go get it updated

too tired to leave my name
as this all is such a joke
ha ha
I like that

BTW,
What is happening to the Armstrong foundry? (Center Street)
Who is stealing the stone?

Look at the building it is slowly going missing.

Maybe the same lot that stole the Stone from the quarry scale house?
that is sad and town property..

-haha

The amusing part of the election is that 60 plus citizens voted in the election and one of the council candidates got about half that many votes. That means that half of the voters looked at that name and said "nope, rather have the seat empty than vote for you".

I guess it does not matter to share the vote count...

again neither website has the vote tote
is there a conspiracy?
No just the same old poop

I know the New Mayor did not get the total vote either!

I wish her well and I truly hope that she proves me wrong.
but she could not sing before and she still is trying to do the same old song

I agree that the new Mayor did not get the total vote count but almost. I think the council vote was poor because the results were taken for granted. No campaigning by council candidates. This shows lack of respect for the citizens of this town coupled with arrogance. The council candidates spent a few hours getting their petitions signed and zero dollars on their campaign and presto chango, "I am now important. I'm gonna represent you but I don't need to tell you how because there are three positions open and there are three candidates"

In Port Deposit we have a "weak mayor" form of government. Council has the last say but can be influenced greatly by the Mayor if the Mayor is a stong, competent and passionate leader. In my opinion, the position that makes the town tick is the position of Town Administrator. We have doers and thinkers. Instead of being in conflict, more will be acomplished if each will do the job within their purview. It is our council's job to make sure the position of Town Administrator is propertly filled and carried out.
