When grass grows on Main Street

from Name your topic

When Grass Grows on Main Street.

Please create a new Post
As a fundamental rule we as citizens should not let grass grow on Main Street (the sidewalks).
There also should be an ordinance on this that the town fathers must also abide.

Our lovely town always looks like it needs a shave
Or our day has passed

Just look at the Tome Steps by Town Hall.
The corner of High Street and Main Street.
Many of the yards throughout town and the sidewalks that links them in the North end.

odd too,
that the sign in front of Tugs about tourism month
is not even mentioned again on either Port Deposit website
Makes one wonders about the politics of it all.

Are we that selfish, shortsided or insecure?

and some wonder about the grass on mainstreet?
the worst in is in town center where the sign is

go figure!

P.S. I will donate some weed eater string

i agree (old too) when that was frankie cuninghams, i dont remember that sort of growth,,,climbing the wall, people should groom here and there,,but town maint crews should help out as well, happy rockfish season, everyone,,,

The worst sidewalk overgrowth is by Town Hall.

In town center you have the square by the fountain that is in need of attention.

The Tugs Ivy is probably to hide that ugly brick.
(personally it seems a mistake to let that stuff penetrate your woodwork and eves like it is .. but to each their own)

the town maintence crews need leadership to do things... (would that be the new mayor or the old adminstrator?) either way there is no denying that attention is need to town property
even the old municipal parking lot
need a good trim.

I pick and spray my sidewalks
as do many responcible citizens
it is ashame that the most visible areas are not maintained

Wonder where else the town has to mow their sidewalks?

I looked around yestereday and it is true!
almost laughable if it wasn't so sad...
this must be the true meaning to the word seedy.

Please wake up Port Deposit, such a sleepy little town.

the scalehouse is a sad picture of what it was only several years ago.
for shame!

someone has been stealing the stone caps from that building for over a year now too
horrible and there is no signage posting no trespassing.

irreplaceable stone at that
sad so sad....

well if the town would have followed thru with restoration of the scale house as it should have there wouldn't be any stealing of the stone. A few years back when passed thru the town goverment, the funds donated by clark turner to help restore the scale house,or to at least stop the decay were available to do so and two able volunters to do so this would'nt be a problem . As usual the town goverment fumbled the ball again. So as it is always money donated disappears?????Does the historical society really have anything to do with preserving the history of "ol port"? If so where is there prescence? At least somebody realizes that the scale house is slowly be raped of it's unreplaciple stone, but in the towns goverment's case who cares as long as it does'nt interfere with whatever town business is going on! ha!ha! sincerly someone who cares about the history of "ol port"

Thank you for starting this thread for me.
And although we may have drifted off the reason why I asked to start this topic, it seems that this may have hit a chord with some.
Tonite was the new mayors first evening in office.
She needs a chance to get things started.
but no more than two months we should see a main street difference
else we will have to call in the sheep or goats to do the job
As for the scale house - a crime!

sinful as the ball was dropped with money not put where it was allocated.
someone should be accountable
and unfortunately it is administrative.

The time for a change needs to be reviewed.
Enough is enough someone needs to be responcible!

Are they still doing the person of the month?
If so, then the souls who weeded the Tome Steps have my vote... whether they be down employees or not...
someone is stepping up to the plate and pulling them for our team!

It seems that Tugs has cleaned their sidewalk.

Congratulations!
Now if the rest of these slugs would spray weed killer we would not look like an abandoned town

all this hullabaloo over the jetty (nice but not the only show in town) has sun-baked some of their brains at the Hall

Hello?
there is more to do around town!
than play footsies by the water...

-sad so sad....

I like playing footsies in the water.

Please this year mow the sidewalk early
or a least enforce ordinances

All need to do their part
The town by leadership

Anonymous said...

Will this year be the year that the town does not have to mow the sidewalks?

It is a job.. that could be done early with round-up.
and maintained

And if citizen only did there part in front of their homes or properties, it would not be a task at all!

We get so used to things that we do not see how we look to those passing through.

btw, is anyone out there?
